    USB DAC driver
    When the RETRO NANO is in UAC mode, no driver is required in the computer. Just select the RETRO NANO as the default audio output device after connecting it to the computer.

    2. What should I do if the RETRO NANO is abnormal?

    [Clear the pairing information on your phone]Go to Settings-Bluetooth in mobile to delete the RETRO NANO pairing information and reconnect it to RETRO NANO. 
    [Clear the pairing information on RETRO NANO]When it is on, hold both the volume- and volume+ buttons at the same time for about 5s. (Valid in any modes) 

    3.nstruction of buttons and menu settings Of RETRO NANO

    [Operation explained]
    Power on and off: Slide the power push button to power on and off the device.
    Multifunction button: Click to switch UI, double click to switch working mode, long press to enter/Exit menu.
    Adjust volume: Short press the previous/next track button to turn up/down the volume.
    Switch songs: Hold the previous or next track button.
    Wake up the display: After powering on the device,clicking any button will wake up the display.
    Note: Long press the volume up and down buttons to change songs, press the play button to pause, it works under Bluetooth and USB mode.

    Activate menu: When the device powers on and not on the menu page, hold the multifunction button for about 2s.
    Exit menu: On the menu page, hold the multifunction button for about 2s.
    Switch/Confirm menu: On the menu page, short press the previous/next track button to switch submenus, and short press the play/pause button to confirm.

    CHGPR: Charging protection
    ON: When the battery is charged to 80%, the USB will stop charging the battery, but will still provide power for the system.
    OFF (by default): The USB will charge the battery and provide power for the system.

    4.Introduction of the three working modeS Of RETRO NANO

    Switch working modes: Double press the multifunction button
    1. PC mode: Double press the multifunction button to switch to the PC mode. At this time, the RETRO NANO is in PC mode, which can be powered and charged through USB.

    2. BT mode: Double press the multifunction button to switch to the BT mode. At this time, the RETRO NANO is in Bluetooth receiving mode, which can be powered and charged through USB.

    3. PHONE mode: Double press the multifunction button to switch to the PHONE mode. At this time, the RETRO NANO is in mobile phone decoding mode, which will be disabled from USB charging (it will be forced to charge if it is powered off for low battery).
    Note: If the “RETRO NANO”is not placed with a battery, it still works when connecting to a USB.

    5. How to enter pairing mode in BT mode? How to clear the pairing Of RETRO NANO?

    Double press the multifunction button to switch working mode to BT mode.
    [How to enter Bluetooth pairing mode] (not on the menu page): 1. If the device is never paired: After the device powers on, it will automatically enter the pairing mode with the display showing “Pairing”;
    2. Force the device to enter pairing mode: When the device is in the connecting state, hold the multifunction button for about 5s until the display shows “Pairing”.
    Note: When the device is turned on for the first time or after clearing the pairing information, it will automatically enter the pairing mode.
    [How to clear pairing]When the device is turned on, press and hold the volume + button and volume - button at the same time for about 5 seconds.

    6.How to switch Bluetooth codec for RETRO NANO in your Android mobile phone?

    The RETRO NANO is a Bluetooth receiver. So the Bluetooth code it receives is depended by the mobile phone terminal. If you would like to switch the Bluetooth code, you could go to the developer mode page of the mobile phone for switching. 
    There is a Bluetooth code selection option of RETRO NANO in the FiiO Control App. You could select the Bluetooth codecs you want to use on the RETRO NANO via that option. The codecs that are not selected will be disabled.

    If you would like to use other Bluetooth codec(Like LDAC), please follow this steps for help:
    1. Enter FiiO Control App-RETRO NANO-Status
    2. Click 'Select Bluetooth code'
    3. Uncheck other Bluetooth protocols, leaving only the "LDAC" option, and click 'OK'
    4. The RETRO NANO will restart and reconnect to the mobile phone via LDAC or other Bluetooth codec.

    Note: The iOS device only supports SBC and AAC Bluetooth codec. And the default Bluetooth codec will be AAC. 

    7. How to use the RETRO NANO as USB DAC for the computer in PC mode?

    RETRO NANO only supports UAC1.0 driver-free mode, no driver installation is required, and it can support up to 96K.

    After switching to PC/PHONE mode, whether it is a Windows computer or a MAC computer, after the adapter is connected to the computer, there is no need to install the driver, just select and set the corresponding sound output device

    Note: Due to system reasons, the output sampling rate of Apple computers will not automatically adapt to the song, and you need to go to Midi to change the system output sampling rate.

    8. How to use the RETRO NANO as a USB DAC for mobile phones in PHONE mode?

    [Android phone]
    Use the Type C-Type C data cable provided as an accessory to connect RETRO NANO and mobile phone, and play songs to enjoy high-quality music.

    If there is no sound after the connection, the following points need to be noted:
    1. Playback software settings, such as FiiO Music, if there is a USB output, it needs to be turned on. Some devices have sound only when the USB output is turned off.
    2. The mobile phone needs to open "Developer Options" in "Other Advanced Settings", and then turn on "USB Debugging" or "OTG" function.
    3. After the above settings are completed, you can try to unplug the data cable again, or play the track, switch the song, and rule out whether it is the hardware or software that cannot be recognized. If it still cannot be solved, it is recommended to contact our customer service to confirm whether it needs to be returned to the factory

    [iPhone]
    Use the TypeC-lightning data cable purchased separately to connect RETRO NANO and Apple phone, and play songs to enjoy high-quality music.
    Note: Apple phones do not require too many settings. Generally speaking, just connect the adapter cable and play the song. If there is no sound, it may be that the adapter cable or the interface is in poor contact.

    9. How to update the firmware Of RETRO NANO?

    Online upgrade:
    Set the RETRO NANO to the BT mode and connect to the mobile phone via Bluetooth. Download the Fiio Control App on your phone and connect the RETRO NANO. On the RETRO NANO page, click the settings pattern in the upper right corner, find "Firmware Upgrade", find "Online Upgrade" and click it. If RETRO NANO has available Bluetooth firmware, a pop-up window will prompt you for the new version. Click OK to upgrade.

    Local upgrade:
    1. Import the "RETRO NANO_Vxxx.bin" firmware into the mobile phone;
    2.Set the RETRO NANO to the BT mode and connect to the mobile phone via Bluetooth. Download the Fiio Control App on your phone and connect the RETRO NANO. On the RETRO NANO page, click the settings pattern in the upper right corner, find "Firmware Upgrade", find "Local Upgrade", select the firmware imported to the phone, and start upgrading the firmware.
    Note: During the firmware upgrade process, please do not leave the upgrade interface, otherwise the upgrade may fail! The upgrade may take a long time, please be patient. If the upgrade fails, you can try again.

    How to check the firmware version?
    Long press the multi-function button [M] and go to menu settings-version to view the firmware version.

    10. How to control the RETRO NANO in the Fii0 Control App?

    Here are the steps to control the RETRO NANO in FiiO Control App.
    1. Please update the FiiO Control App to the latest version (Click the link to get the latest Android version: https://forum.fiio.com/note/showNoteContent.do?id=202105071628040377809&tid=17
    2. Enter My devices->Tap the RETRO NANO to complete the connection. After a  successful connection, it will enter the Bluetooth control menu.
    FiiO control works in both BT mode and USB decoding mode.
