          2.What should l do if the K11 is abnormal?

          [No sound, noise, unable to boot, indicator light off, etc.]

          You can try the following methods to help you solve the problem:

          1. Restart K11;

          2. Re-plug the power cord.

          How to restore factory firmware for K11? (K11 comes with backup system. When you meet the system failure (for example fails to enter menu), you can try to restore the factory firmware via the backup system.

          1.When K11 is powered off, long press the knob to turn it on. Keep holding when 'FiiO' shows and stop holding when the screen turns off. The display will shows 'bACkUP' and you can enter the backup mode.

          2.In the backup menu, click the knob to enter the selection menu, then scroll the knob to select between REVERT/UPDATE/RETURN options.

          When selecting 'REVERT', the system will restart and enter the backup system (i.e. factory firmware system). At this time, the system will overwrite the system with part of the code of the backup system, and then restart automatically. Then the basic backup system becomes a normal available system. (Nomater the normal system fails or not, after selecting 'REVERT', the original system will be overwrited with the backup system)

          When selecting 'UPDATE', the system will enter the MCU update mode, the display will show 'RETURN'. You could exit the mode after updating.

          When selecting 'RETURN', the system will have no operation and restart automatically.

          [Over-current protection]

          K11 doesn't have overload, over-temperature protection mechanisms but only over-current protection mechanisms.

          After the protection is triggered, you must turn off the power to restore it. You can turn it off and then on through the knob, or directly unplug the power supply to restore it.

          The over-current protection is to prevent the machine from damaging the earphones. If it keeps triggering and then triggers again soon after recovery, it means that the device has a rare problem and needs to be returned to the factory for repair. Please contact the seller or support@fiio.com about that.

          SAM(Oversampling settings):The default option is OS and over sampling is on. When external audio datas transform to the K11 R2R, it will be oversampled and converted to a 384k sampling rate (in simple word: upscaling). Then the data will be sent to the R2R module for decoding. The purpose of oversampling is to change the distribution of quantization noise and improve the SNR.

          The sampling rate displayed on the K11 R2R is still the original sampling rate but not 384k.

          When the SAM option is set to NOS, oversampling is off. The audio data will be decoded and processed in its original sampling to present the original sound experience.

          IDLE(Smart idle time): This option is for selecting whether to enable smart idle function. The default option is N and the smart idle function is off.

          When selecting Y, the smart idle function is enabled: when no playback for 30min, the system will turn off part of the circuit power supply in the background to save power consumption with RGB indicator off automatically. [Which gain should I use when using headphones]

          K11 supports three levels of gain, toggle switch adjustment, respectively L/M/H, the corresponding gain is 0dB/4dB/10dB.

          The gain adjustment needs to be determined according to your earphones. It is recommended to use H gain for high impedance headphones, M gain for normal impedance headphones, and L gain for low impedance headphones. After switching the gain, the output power doesn't change, but the volume level will change. It is designed in order to avoid excessive volume/popping noise after gain switching and to improve the listening experience.

          Note: Gain is invalid in LO output mode.

          6. How to use the K11 as a USB DAC for mobile phones?

          To connect the K11 to an Android phone, player or Apple phone, you need to purchase an additional Type-C to Type-C, lightning to Type-C OTG cable (such as FiiO LT-TC1, LT-LT3) to connect:

          Notice:

          1. When K11 is connected to Mac, it can play DSD tracks up to DSD128. This is because under OSX, the DoP can only support DSD128 (DSD256 needs to be packaged in 768K under MAC, and K11 supports up to 384kHz).

          2. In theory, OSX can connect to K11 to play DSD256 through Native, but the corresponding playback software needs to pass through MFi and support Native output, such as Audirvana Plus, Amara Symphony.

          【Linux computer】

          The Linux system is driver-free. In theory, it can be used directly by connecting it directly. However, due to the large number of versions, it can not be guaranteed that all systems can be adapted. If it is connected, it is recommended to use another data cable or USB port to check. is not supported.

          8.How to use the coaxial and optical decoding function of K11?

          1.After powering on the K11, switch the input mode of K11 to the corresponding input: OPT IN (optical fiber), COAX IN(coaxial), and connect to the corresponding optical fiber/coaxial input line;

          2.K11 output setting: switch to the corresponding output port according to the interface used, switch the headphone or speaker output on the front panel to PO, and switch the line output on the rear panel to LO to decode the audio signal of the mobile phone.

          9.The sample rate supported by K11 and K11 R2R?

          USB decoding up to 384kHz/32bit, DSD256;

          Coaxial supports up to 192kHz/24bit, does not support DSD64;

          Fiber supports up to 96kHz/24bit.

          Why can the USB mode sampling rate only support up to 384K/DSD256?

          During the debugging process, we found that when decoding some DSD512 and songs with a sampling rate above 768k, there will be some noise. We have tried many times to solve this problem, but we can't completely solve it. Due to the quality control requirements of our company, and there are not many songs with sampling rates above DSD512 and 768k on the market, we finally decided not to support sampling rates above DSD512 and 768k.

          10.The RGB indicator light status indication of K11

          12.What power adapter is suitable for the K11?

          The AC power input of the power adapter comes with K11 supports AC power between 100V and 240V.

          The specification of the DC port for K11 is 5.5x2.1mm.

          The DC output of the power adapter comes with K11 is 12V/2A. You could use 12V3A power supply as well. It is recommended to use the power adapter that comes with the K11 or FiiO linear power supply PL50.

          13.The difference between K11 and K11 R2R
          1. Outlooking differences: K11 R2R comes with R2R logo while K11 does not have. The other appearances are same,
          2. Internal circuitry differences: K11 uses CS43198 as the DAC chip, while the K11 R2R uses sign-magnitude R2R as the DAC chip. Some of the corresponding circuits are slightly different.
          3. Parameters differences: The THD+N & Noise and noise floor of K11 and K11 R2R are nearly the same.
          4. Software settings function differences: K11 uses the CS43198 as DAC chip so it comes with a filter setting function. The K11 R2R uses sign-magnitude R2R as the DAC chip, so it has no filter function and the filter setting option is removed. But the oversampling mode and smart idlefunction are added for K11 R2R.
          5. In terms of sound, as the first R2R product of FIIO, consumers are certainly more interested in the product's sound performance. After a number of inner comparisons, as well as the exhibition listening, the general feedback is that the K11 R2R has better flexibility in low frequency, thicker vocals and richer feelings, while the K11 is better in resolution!
          14. How to update the firmware for K11/K11 R2R?

          Before upgrading the firmware for K11, please note the following:

          1) Only Windows computers can be used to upgrade firmware, please use computers with Windows 10 or above;

          2) In addition to connecting the K11 to the computer, it is recommended to unplug all other devices or decoders on the computer USB interface;

          3) During the firmware upgrade process, please do not disconnect the power supply or unplug the USB cable. If there is a power outage, it will actively enter the firmware upgrade state the next time it is powered on.

          Update steps:

          1. Install the Windows computer driver:

          4. Click "open" and select the file "k11_app-vxxx.hex".

          5. Click "OK" to start the firmware upgrade. After the upgrade is completed, "Download successfully!" will be displayed. Click "确定" and then "Cancel" to exit the upgrade tool.

          Note: As shown in the figure below, please click the "Cancel" button in this interface to exit the software; do not click "OK", otherwise the software will re-enter the upgrade state.

          6. After the K11 firmware upgrade is completed, the word "RETURN" will be displayed on the screen. Short press the knob to see the "Y/N" option. Select "Y" to exit the upgrade mode. After that, the K11 will restart. You could go to the menu FWxxx to check the firmware version.
