The Denafrips Pontus 15th Anniversary is a true balanced, dual-mono R-2R ladder network DAC celebrating 15 years of Denafrips. Featuring 26-bit R2R + 6-bit DSD architecture with 32-stage FIR filters, hand-matched 0.005% resistors, dual toroidal transformers and femtosecond crystal oscillators, the Pontus 15th delivers reference-grade R2R decoding for high-end audio systems.
Each channel is equipped with an independent high-speed FPGA to facilitate digital signal decoding through four sets of 0.005% R-2R resistor networks. This design yields very small linearity error, high decoding speed and low digital noise, ensuring extremely low distortion and background noise in the audio signal.
The proprietary R2R + DSD architecture combines 26-bit R2R ladder decoding with 6-bit DSD processing and 32-stage FIR filters, delivering natural, musical R2R character with the precision of modern digital filtering. NOS (Non-Oversampling) and OS (Oversampling) modes are selectable.
Dual O-Core toroidal transformers provide clean, stable power with low magnetic interference. The encapsulated ultra-low-noise power supply ensures quiet backgrounds and stable power delivery to the sensitive R2R ladder circuits, with LPNO crystal oscillators at 45.1548MHz and 49.152MHz for precise clocking.
Adaptive FIFO buffer reclocking isolates the DAC from source jitter. USB, AES/EBU, coaxial, optical and HDMI I²S inputs cover every digital source, with PCM up to 1536kHz and DSD up to DSD1024 via USB and I²S. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs connect to any amplifier.

Q: What does "15th Anniversary" mean?
A: The Pontus 15th is a special edition celebrating Denafrips' 15th anniversary, featuring upgraded components, improved architecture and enhanced performance compared to the standard Pontus model.
Q: Does the Pontus 15th have network streaming?
A: No, the Pontus 15th is a pure DAC. For network streaming, pair it with a separate network streamer or use a computer as the source.
Q: What is the difference between NOS and OS modes?
A: NOS (Non-Oversampling) mode bypasses digital filtering for the most natural, unprocessed R2R sound. OS (Oversampling) mode applies the 32-stage FIR filter for improved measured performance with a slightly more polished presentation.
