What WiiM Pro Plus firmware v4.8.832958 adds, how to update safely, and how to test Google Cast multi-room, wireless Sub Pro, Presto and stability fixes.
WiiM Pro Plus firmware v4.8.832958 adds Google Cast multi-room playback, wireless WiiM Sub Pro output and Presto Music support. It also targets TIDAL Connect and Spotify Connect stuttering, reduces Alexa multi-room CPU use, updates Squeezelite and improves Ethernet and IPv6 stability. The release began rolling out in stages on October 19, 2026, so two Pro Plus units may not receive it at the same time.
This is a useful update if you use several WiiM rooms, a wireless Sub Pro, Presto Music or one of the affected streaming services. It is not a reason to replace a stable streamer, and it does not turn the Pro Plus into an amplifier for passive speakers.
| Area | What changed | Who benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Google Cast | WiiM multi-room playback and wireless Sub Pro output | Google Cast and multi-room users |
| Presto Music | Native service support with the latest app | Classical and jazz listeners using Presto |
| TIDAL / Spotify | Reduced playback stuttering | Connect users with intermittent pauses |
| Alexa MRM | Lower CPU usage | Alexa multi-room systems |
| Squeezelite | Updated SDK for stability | LMS and Squeezelite users |
| Network | Improved Ethernet and IPv6 handling | Wired networks and modern routers |
The important change is not simply “Google Cast support.” The release notes specifically add Google Cast playback across WiiM multi-room groups and wireless output to WiiM Sub Pro. That can simplify a system in which casting was previously limited to one receiving device or required a different playback route for the subwoofer.
Test the exact path you use. Start one ordinary track through Google Cast, confirm the intended Pro Plus is playing, then add the other room or wireless subwoofer. Check synchronization with spoken content before judging music. A successful device discovery screen does not prove that every room is aligned or that the subwoofer crossover is correct.
The WiiM Pro Plus remains a streamer and DAC. Passive speakers still require an amplifier, while a powered subwoofer needs the appropriate signal path and settings.
Presto Music support is part of the firmware, but WiiM notes that the latest app version is also required. If Presto is missing after the device updates, check the WiiM Home app version before resetting hardware. Service availability can also vary by account and region, so confirm that your Presto subscription and market are supported.
If Presto is the only feature you want, do not update in the middle of an important listening session. Confirm your current firmware, update the controller app, allow the staged rollout to reach your unit and then sign in through the supported service menu. Our Presto Music on WiiM guide explains the service workflow and purchasing considerations.
“Reduced playback stuttering” means the update addresses relevant TIDAL Connect and Spotify Connect behavior; it does not prove that every pause was caused by the previous firmware. Wi-Fi interference, Ethernet faults, router multicast settings, service outages and account state can create similar symptoms.
After updating, repeat the same album, service and network path that previously failed. Change only one variable at a time. If an hour-long track used to stop at a repeatable point, note whether the same track now completes. If the failure remains, compare Ethernet and Wi-Fi, then submit feedback through WiiM Home with device logs rather than repeatedly factory-resetting the unit.
The rollout is staged. If one unit receives the update before another, that alone does not indicate a fault. Avoid changing networks, reinstalling the app or resetting the device solely to force an update that has not yet reached its rollout group.
Keep volume moderate during the first test. Firmware does not alter the need for correct gain structure, amplifier selection or speaker protection.
Update promptly if you need the new Google Cast, wireless Sub Pro or Presto functions, or if the listed stability issues affect your system. Waiting is reasonable when your setup is stable and none of the changes matter to you, especially during a staged rollout. Read the current official release notes again before acting because rollout status can change.
If you are choosing hardware rather than maintaining an existing unit, compare the Pro Plus with other models in our WiiM ecosystem buying guide. Choose by inputs, outputs, room-correction needs and system role—not by one firmware headline. You can also browse the WiiM collection after deciding whether your system needs a streamer, amplifier or speaker.
WiiM Pro Plus firmware v4.8.832958 is a meaningful connectivity and service update: Google Cast gains a broader multi-room path, wireless Sub Pro support arrives, Presto Music becomes available with the current app, and several streaming and network components receive stability work. Update through WiiM Home, expect a staged rollout and validate the exact feature you need with a repeatable test.
