    8. The sample rate supported by K7

The highest sample rate supportedUSB: 384kHz/32bit, DSD256Coaxial: 192kHz/24bitOptical: up to 96kHz/24bitThe reason for only support up to 384kHz/DSD256 in USB mode:During developing the K7, we found that there will be noise when decoding some DSD512 and 768k music files. We did try to fix this problem via different methods but failed still. Currently, the amount of DSD512 and 768k files are still limited. So we did not add the DSD512 and 768k support in the K7 finally.

    10. Is it normal that the K7 is heating?

The THX AAA 788+ module, which has better output power and sound effect, also bring the same heating problem for K7 as the K9Pro. In addition, the K7 heat dissipation is relatively slow since the K7 uses closed enclosures. After a long time of use, the shell will be warmer and this is normal. And there is an overheating protection system in the K7. When the internal temperature exceeds the set value, the protection system will be triggered. Therefore, you don't need to worry about the heating in the K7.

    11. Overheating protection,Overload protection and DC protection of K7

The protection system will be triggered when the K7 is overloaded or overheating. When the protection system is triggered, you would need to restart the K7 for help: you can restart the K7 via the volume knob or replug the power plug.DC protection is to prevent problems with the K7 damage to the headphones. If it keeps triggering, the K7 may have hardware issue. Please contact the seller or support@fiio.com about that.

    13. What power adapter is suitable for the K7?

The AC power input of the power adapter comes with K7 supports AC power between 100V and 240V.The specification of the DC port for K7 is 5.5x2.1mm.The DC output of the power adapter comes with K7 is 12V/2A. You could use 12V3A power supply as well. It is recommended to use the power adapter comes with the K7 or FiiO linear power supply PL50.

    14. What's the main difference between K7 and K5Pro?
    1. 1. The K7 follows the convenient interaction in the K9 series. Press the button to switch input signals, switch gain level by the 2-level switch to take good care of headphones with different impedance and sensitivity; switch outputs between DAC, PRE and HP outputs by the 3-level switch. Besides, the K7 supports 4.4 balanced output.
    2. 2. In terms of headphone amplifier, the K7 uses dual THX AAA 788+ amps which has the best overall performance in the current market. It can produce an undistorted 560mW under a 300Ω load (THD+N<1%), and an undistorted 2000mW under a 32Ω load (THD+N<1%).
    3. 3. The K7 first uses RGB indicator lights that are capable of displaying single colors as well as mixed colors, with a unique light flow effect during power-on/off or input switching. Dazzling and vivid light effects give your desk some much needed spice.
    15. Does the K7 work as amplifier when using line out during line in mode?

No, the K7 only works as a signal converter at that time. The input signal will barely go though the main circuit of the K7 and the K7 will not work as amplifier.

    16. Can I turn off the RGB indicator or change its colour?

You could not change its colour.

But if you would like to turn off the RGB indicator of K7, you could install this XMOS firmware for your K7 in the Windows computer.

    17. Can I connect the amplifier with balanced input to the 4.4mm headphone output port of the K7?

Yes,the 4.4mm balanced headphone out(with 4 audio pins and a ground pin) of the K7 could drive the amp well actually though it is not lineout port. You could order the suitable cable for connecting the 4.4mm port of K7 and the balanced input port of the amp.

    18. Does the K7 support Bluetooth?

The K7 does not support Bluetooth. Before developing the K7, we did some questionnaire and found that most K5Pro users need the balanced output but not Bluetooth. After taking into account the cost and cost performance, we decided not to add Bluetooth for K7 first. Without Bluetooth, the cost could be reduced and the final price could be kept at a lower level. In fact, we also have a professional Bluetooth transceiver BTA30Pro. If you would need the Bluetooth connection, you could consider the BTA30Pro+K7 for help.Of course, if the user's needs change later, we will also consider adding the Bluetooth function for K7.

    19. Does the K7 support DSD decoding in coaxial mode?

The coaxial mode supports up to 192k so DSD decoding is not supported.

    20. What to try if the K7 could not be recognized or the output is stuttering, when using as USB DAC for computer?

Some USB ports in the front panel of the computer may not provide stable power supply. Please try the USB ports in the back panel or use other usb cables.

    21. Why will the response slow when switching input mode?

In order to prevent large changes in volume when switching the input mode, we designed a "fade out" function, i.e. the volume will gradually increase when switching, so that it needs more time for reaction. That's why it will be slow.

There is no response when switching too fast, because it is still in the switching cycle. In this case, please wait a few seconds.

    22. Why will there be latency when adjusting volume through the volume knob?

It seems that the volume is controlled through the volume knob. But in fact, when adjusting the volume, the internal MCU will detect the rotation of the knob. Therefore, it will go through a process: rotate the knob-> MCU detection and anti-shaking processing-> conversion into a value-> send volume adjustment instructions to the electronic volume chip-> change the sound.

This process runs very fast, but we need to ensure stability at any rotation angle, and we need to add anti-shaking and error correction measures. If the rotation is too fast, it will cause multiple judgments, which is to prevent abnormal volume changes that damage hearing.

In addition, the 8-bit single-chip microcomputer used in the K7 may not be as fast as the K9 Pro in real-time processing, such as when detecting the change of the input signal, whether the output is overloaded, and the position of the potentiometer. Therefore, it is normal that the volume adjustment is not as smooth as the K9 Pro.

    23. With the same THX AAA-788+ amp chip, why would the maximum output power of the K7 be 2W, and the K9 Pro be 3W?

Theoretically, using the same THX AAA-788+ as the K9 Pro, the K7 will have an output power of up to 3W. When designing the K9 Pro and K7, we considered that the usage scenarios of desktop devices are more strict. For example, some users prefer to use them to connect to passive speakers and headphones which require a lot of power and output at the same time. Since the Q7/M17 and other products were designed with output detection, they can detect the output status in a timely manner. While the K7 and K9 Pro always have output, we designed them with limited maximum output power. Therefore, it will remain stable even when switching the interface. But don't worry, 2W stable output power is enough for most headphones.

    24. The OPT and COAX indicator is flashing at the same time. Why does this issue happen?

Are you using connecting to the 4.4mm port when the issue happens?

Please check whether the definition of the adapter/cable of your headphone is same to the K7's 4.4mm port? Is your headphone the balanced headphone or the unbalanced headphone instead?

    4.4 mm port:

The definition of most unbalanced 3.5mm port:

    The balance output port has four output pins: L+, L-, R+ and R-. ("L" = "left channel" "R" = "right channel" "+" = "positive" "-" = "negative")

However, the 3.5mm standard output port has only three pins: L, R and GND.

Therefore, the 3.5 mm unbalanced output plug can not be converted into 2.5/4.4mm balanced output plug actually.

Connecting the unbalanced plug to balanced jack may damage your device as in this case, the positive and negative terminals will contact and cause short circuit. If your adapter is for the 3.5 mm unbalanced output plug to 2.5/4.4mm balanced output plug, it is not suitable for the 4.4mm balanced port of the K7.

When using that adapter, the overload protection in K7 will be activated when the volume is in higher level in order to prevent the K7 for damaging.

    25. When the volume knob is between the OFF and 9 o'clock positions, the K7 will have no output. Is it normal?

If the volume knob is between the OFF and 9 o'clock positions, the K7 will have no output. This is a normal feature of the analog potentiometer, since it is designed with a certain space in the initial and final sections, which is reserved to accommodate errors. The system will debug and monitor the reserved space, so it will not affect normal uses.
