FiiO S15 is a full-width Android music streamer, DAC, digital transport and preamplifier designed to become the source component in a living-room stereo system. It plays streaming apps, network libraries and local storage, accepts external digital sources, and sends analog audio through RCA or balanced XLR to active speakers or an amplifier.

The S15 combines Android 12, a Snapdragon 660 processor, AK4191 plus AK4499EX conversion, HDMI input and ARC, extensive digital input and output, removable M.2 NVMe storage and a 7.84-inch landscape touchscreen. It has no headphone amplifier and no analog input.

• S15 has no headphone output. The rear 3.5mm socket is a 12V Trigger Out connection and must not be treated as a headphone jack.
• S15 has no analog input. A turntable requires a phono stage plus a separate analog-to-digital route, or should be connected directly to the downstream amplifier instead.
• The rear voltage selector must match the local AC supply before power-on. Confirm whether the unit is set for 110–120V or 220–240V.
• An M.2 SSD is not listed as included. The supplied cage supports compatible NVMe drives up to 2TB in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 sizes.

FAQ

Can I connect headphones directly to the FiiO S15?

No. S15 does not contain a headphone amplifier or headphone output. Connect its RCA or XLR output to a separate headphone amplifier, or use a compatible external DAC/headphone amplifier through one of the digital outputs. The rear 3.5mm socket is Trigger Out, not audio.

Can S15 power passive speakers?

No. RCA and XLR provide line or variable preamplifier signals only. Passive speakers require an integrated amplifier or power amplifier. Active speakers can connect directly when their input sensitivity and volume arrangement are appropriate.

Can I install Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz or Apple Music?

S15 runs a customized Android 12 system and supports installation of compatible third-party applications. App availability, login methods, high-resolution support and Connect-style remote control can change with the application and firmware, so confirm the current app version rather than assuming every service behaves identically.

How does S15 differ from compact streamers such as Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2?

S15 is a full-width 430mm component and emphasizes extensive routing: HDMI input plus ARC, AES input and output, Bluetooth transmit and receive, removable M.2 cage and a flagship AKM DAC combination. Compact rivals may take less rack space and can offer a different app experience. Choose according to the connections and control workflow you will actually use, not the number of features alone.

What is the difference between HDMI IN and HDMI ARC?

HDMI IN accepts audio and video from a computer, disc player or set-top box and passes video to the HDMI output while S15 decodes the audio. HDMI ARC receives return audio from a compatible television through the HDMI OUT/ARC socket. ARC supports 44.1 or 48kHz, while HDMI input and output support up to 192kHz/24-bit.

Can I use S15 with a turntable?

Not directly. S15 has no phono or line-level analog input. Connect the turntable and phono stage to the downstream integrated amplifier, or use a separate analog-to-digital converter if the source must enter the S15 digitally.

Is the M.2 SSD included?

No SSD is listed in the standard package. FIIO includes the removable M.2 cage, its USB 3.0 data cable and an installation screwdriver. The cage supports compatible NVMe drives in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 sizes up to 2TB.

Which other storage sources can it use?

S15 provides 64GB internal storage with approximately 46GB available, a microSD slot with theoretical support up to 2TB, USB-A storage connections and access to compatible network libraries through protocols including UPnP, SMB and WebDAV.

Can it receive and transmit Bluetooth?

Yes. Bluetooth reception supports SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX Low Latency, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive and LDAC. Bluetooth transmission supports SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, LDAC and LHDC with compatible headphones or speakers. Bluetooth transmission is digital output and can mute other outputs according to the S15 priority rules.

Can I use an external DAC?

Yes. Digital output is available through USB, optical, coaxial, AES and HDMI I2S. HDMI I2S uses connector hardware that resembles HDMI but carries I2S audio and is not a normal HDMI connection; confirm the downstream DAC pin configuration before use.

Why did the RCA and XLR outputs become silent after enabling I2S?

FIIO states that enabling I2S output mutes the analog RCA and XLR outputs. Disable I2S when returning to the internal DAC and analog outputs. USB output and Bluetooth transmission also take high priority and can disable other outputs.

Should I use fixed line output or preamplifier output?

Use fixed line output when an integrated amplifier, preamplifier or active speaker controls volume. Use variable preamplifier output when S15 should control system volume. Before changing modes, reduce volume and confirm which device is responsible for level control to avoid an unexpectedly loud signal.

Does it work with Roon, AirPlay and DLNA?

FIIO lists Roon Ready, AirPlay and DLNA operating modes. Keep firmware current and connect the controller, server and S15 to the same network. Service certification and behaviour can change, so verify current firmware if a particular ecosystem is essential.

Can S15 work as a USB DAC for a computer?

Yes, through the front USB-C DAC port. Windows requires the FIIO USB DAC driver for full operation, while macOS is normally driver-free. USB DAC decoding supports up to PCM 768kHz/32-bit and native DSD512 under compatible settings.

What should I know before connecting the S15 to mains power?

Unlike an auto-ranging supply, S15 uses a rear 115V/230V selection switch. Set it to the correct local mains range before connecting power. Using the wrong setting can prevent operation or damage equipment.

Is the FIIO Control app the only way to operate it?

No. The front touchscreen and knobs provide direct control, and the included RM3 Bluetooth remote supports playback and volume functions after pairing. FIIO Link control differs by platform: Android supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth control, while iOS support is more limited.
